OSLO, Jun. 13 (MNA) – In a press conference with his Norwegian counterpart, Foreign Minister Zarif called for regional cooperation with the Scandinavian country.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is visiting Norway to participate in the two-day Oslo Forum, attended a press conference with his Norwegian counterpart Børge Brende on Monday, following a bilateral meeting earlier today.

“Norway has made good progress in the fields of fishery, oil and gas from which Iran can benefit greatly,” Zarif said.

Thanking Norway for its positive role during the process of nuclear negotiations, Zarif said “without Norway, we could not have reached an agreement on the case of enriched uranium transfer to Kazakhstan.”

The Iranian top diplomat further discussed the crisis currently inflicting West Asia, saying “the only solution to Syrian crisis is a political one, and the conflict will be never settled through military aggression.”

He went on to add, “although a military force is required, the country will not be able to resolve the conflict through a military approach.”

Zarif also deemed Iran’s four-point plan for Syria ‘helpful’. The plan which was proposed by Zarif in April 2015 consists national unity government, a ceasefire, fighting terrorism and constitutional reforms in Syria.
