Huge demand for Iranian military gear in foreign markets: DM

26 May 2016 - 18:33

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said there is huge demand for Iran’s military gear in foreign markets.

Iran’s arms products have now reached a high standard quality and can be exported to foreign countries, Dehqan said in a recent meeting.

Referring to a rocket fuse production line launched on Tuesday, he said that the Islamic Republic’s capacities for producing various military equipment have multiplied and that it can now fulfil the needs of foreign markets in addition to its own.

The Iranian defense minister went on to say that with the fuse production line becoming operational, the country no longer has the problem with supplying the fuses of its bombs, mortars, artilleries, and rockets.

The production line manufactures devices for initiating different explosive devices, including Fajr-3, fajr-5, Falaq-1, Falaq-2 and Fateh rockets. It also manufactures fuses used in aerial bombs weighing between 250 and 500 pounds.

Fuses produced there are of different types, including contact (percussion), proximity, and electronic fuses used in penetration weaponry of the ordnance and mortar class.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment and military gear, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Tehran has always assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to the regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
