TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with new Indonesian Ambassador to Tehran Octavino Alimudin on Tuesday underlined the need to expand mutual cooperation to solve problems in Islamic countries.
"Iran and Indonesia as the two important Muslim world states which introduce the moderate Islam should make their utmost efforts today to show the reality of Islam against what is displayed of Islam by certain extremist and terrorist groups and they should have more cooperation and integrity to settle the existing Muslim world problems," Rouhani said during the meeting in Tehran today.
Elsewhere, he underscored increasing mutual cooperation between Tehran and Jakarta in economic, scientific, cultural, technological, technical and investment fields, and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran sees no obstacles to developing cooperation and relations with Indonesia."
Alimudin, for his part, stressed the need for using opportunities to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations, and called on Iran to share its experiences with Indonesia in the field of technical and engineering services.
In a relevant development in April, President Rouhani and Indonesian Vice-President Muhammad Jusuf Kalla in a meeting in Istanbul underlined the need for the further expansion of mutual cooperation.
During the meeting on the sidelines of the summit meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, President Rouhani and Jusuf Kalla explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral relations.
"The ground is ready for enhanced ties between Iran and Indonesia after removal of anti-Iran sanctions and resumption of banking ties," President Rouhani said.
The Iranian president went on to say that Iran and Indonesia have good potentials for expansion of ties in the fields of energy, industry, tourism, science and research.
He also urged the private sectors of the two countries to boost their ties.
Kalla, for his part, said that Indonesia's President Joko Widodo will pay a visit to Tehran in the near future.
