Iran resolves oil tankers insurance problem

TEHRAN, May 10,(Shana) – Iran has already obtained agreement of the International Group of P&I Clubs for insurance coverage of its oil tankers, Deputy Petroleum Minister for International Affairs Amir Hossein Zamani Nia said.

Speaking to Shana on Tuesday, he added that relations between Iranian and foreign companies have been promoted after the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action reached between Iran and G5+1.

Enhance of cooperation between domestic and foreign companies can boom the oil industry, the official added.

He said that Egypt has agreed to let Iranian tankers resume oil shipments through SuMed pipeline to supply customers in
Europe and the Mediterranean Sea region.

The Egyptian administration has issued the permit for Iran’s giant oil tankers to use the pipeline they operate en route to Europe.

The SuMed pipeline (also known as Suez-Mediterranean pipeline) is an oil pipeline in Egypt, running from the Ain Sukhna terminal on the Gulf of Suez to offshore Sidi Kerir, Alexandria on the Mediterranean Sea. It provides an alternative to the Suez Canal for transporting oil from the Persian Gulf region to the Mediterranean.
