Iran, Spain to boost consular, police coop. against terrorism

TEHRAN, May 10 (MNA) – Iran and Spain have discussed ways to expand consular, judicial and police cooperation against terrorism, organized crimes, and human and drugs trafficking.


Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates Affairs Hassan Ghashghavi held talks with his Spanish counterpart Cristóbal González-Aller in Madrid on Monday.

During the meeting, the two sides conferred on ways to facilitate visa issuance, judicial and police cooperation against terrorism, organized crimes, as well as human and drugs trafficking.

Ghashghavi further expressed Iran’s readiness to present a draft agreement on transfer of sentenced persons, extradition, and legal aid in civil and criminal cases.

González-Aller, for his part, welcomed the proposals suggested by the Iranian side, calling for the expansion of political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.

The two sides also reached an agreement on establishing direct flights between Tehran and Madrid.
