Death of Daesh jihadi group’s leader Abu Bakr Baghdadi would have a great effect on the extremist organization, Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan said.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A US-led coalition of nearly 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes against the Daesh first in Iraq and later Syria since 2014 — albeit without the approval of the Syrian government or the UN Security Council.
"We will destroy [Daesh], I have no doubt in my mind. And we have to remove the leadership that directs that organization to carry out these horrific attacks If we got Baghdadi, I think it would have a great impact on the organization, and it will be felt by them," Brennan told the NBC News network in an interview released Sunday.
The Daesh is a terrorist organization prohibited in many countries around the world, including the United States and Russia. It operates mainly in Syria and Iraq.
