TEHRAN, Apr. 25 (MNA) – First VP Jahangiri said Iran’s nuclear deal with 5+1 indicates the scope of the country’s diplomacy in clearing up misunderstanding with the international community.First Vice-President Es’hagh Jahangiri made the remark in a meeting with Uruguayan VP Raul Sendic on Monday in Tehran, adding “the post-sanctions era following the implementation of nuclear deal has presented Iran and South American countries particularly Uruguay with a new opportunity to step up their economic and trade relations.”

Jahangiri added Iran’s Oil Ministry is ready to resume its exports to Uruguay while the Islamic Republic will continue exporting agriculture products from the South American country.

Iran is also ready to provide Uruguay with its experience and knowledge in various fields of trade, economy, pharmaceutical industry, nanotechnology, mining, dam and power plant construction, he added.

Jahangiri further called for acceleration of signing financial and banking agreements between the two countries.

Sendic, for his part, noted his country’s trade relations with Tehran that were maintained even during the time of sanctions against the Islamic Republic saying, “the sanctions had impeded the process of developing ties, but on the other hand, they allowed Iran to become self-sufficient in various fields and make some good achievements on its own.”

He also expressed Uruguay’s keen interest in further expanding relations with Iran in all areas in the post-sanctions era.

In a press conference following the meeting, Jahangiri called for the activation of Iran-Uruguay joint economic commission with an aim to remove the last remaining obstacles in the two countries’ bilateral ties.
