TEHRAN, Apr. 12 (MNA) – Deputy-foreign minister for Arab and African affairs has received Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Syria.Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met visiting Staffan de Mistura on Tuesday and discussed the latest developments of Syria.
Amir-Abdollahian told the press after the meeting that Mr. de Mistura had informed about Iran’s concerns over the situation in Syria; “included among these concerns notable were influx of fresh terrorist fighters to Syria and frequent cases of violation of the ceasefire, which would jeopardize the whole process of diplomatic solutions to the crisis,” he told reporters.
“Meanwhile humanitarian aid had been delivered to the refugees selectively which excludes certain cohorts of the victims of the crisis," he said.
"I appreciate good offices by Mr. de Mistura in bringing political process in Syria. We are now happy to see that these efforts yields desirable results,” he added, calling all regional and international sides engaged in Syria to take serious steps to fight terrorism and refrain from measures threatening the achievements in Syria.
Abdollahian also expressed hopes that true representatives of Syrian people and the government of Syria hit a happy and constructive end; “there has been efforts waged to send only warring factions who believe in political solution to Syrian talks, however, some terrorist groups adopted new façade to enter the talks; Mr. de Mistura had said that no dialogue would be established with terrorist groups, but the ongoing issue is the lack of unanimity over which groups should be labelled as terrorist groups and thus excluded from negotiations,” he concluded.
