TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s Education Minister Ali Asghar Fani arrived in Moscow on Tuesday to take part in an international exhibition on education.
According to the Iranian embassy in Moscow, the minister is also scheduled to meet the head of Russian Duma’s Education Committee and Minister of Science and Education Dmitri Livanov.
During his three-day stay in Moscow, the minister will also meet Vice President for Scientific Affairs Andre Fosenko to discuss cooperation in science and education.
The two sides will also consider exchange of delegations.
The visit comes after Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanayee voiced his satisfaction in the ongoing trend of mutual cooperation between Iran and Russia.
"A bright future is waiting for the two countries' relations in the upcoming weeks," Sanayee said, addressing a conference in Moscow last Friday.
He underlined that Iranian and Russian officials have strong determination to broaden their bilateral ties.
"Iran and Russia are developing their scientific, academic and technological relations," Sanayee added.
In a relevant development last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also said that Moscow and Tehran are taking wide strides for strategic partnership.
"Russia has age-old and strategic relations with Iran," Lavrov told reporters.
The Russian foreign minister said that his country is ready to broaden mutual cooperation with Iran in different areas.
In the last several years, Iran and Russia have had vast cooperation in different fields, especially in political and economic spheres.
The two states also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long had constant and regular consultations on key regional and global issues.
On November 23, President Putin arrived in Tehran to meet Iran's top officials and participate in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) conference.
Upon arrival in Iran, he rushed to meet Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei that lasted for two hours. Then later in the day he met his counterpart President Rouhani and the two presidents also attended a press conference.
Also on November 23, high-ranking Iranian and Russian officials inked 7 cooperation Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of President Rouhani and President Putin.
One of the documents endorsed by Iranian and Russian top diplomats Mohammad Javad Zarif and Sergei Lavrov eased visa requirements for reciprocal visits by the two countries' nationals.
The other documents and MoUs were related to the health, railway, banking, insurance, electricity, power plant, water and energy sectors.
