Head of Iran's Majlis (Parliament) family and women's fraction, Fatemeh Rahbar says that the controversial bill of "Women Passport Amendment", which required single women under 40 to obtain permission from their guardian or the Sharia Judge in order to take a passport or exit the country, cancelled.

The government presented the Parliament with the bill in April 2012, and the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament approved it on November 15. According to the bill, single women under the age of 40 will need the official agreement of their guardian or the Sharia Judge.

Eventually, after widespread protest of women's rights activists, discriminatory Passport and Exit Law bill did not pass by the Majlis.
