Iranian swimmers featured dazzling displays at Dubai International Aquatic Championships (DIAC) 2016 in the United Arab Emirates, and managed to pick up 31 medals and set eight records at the tournament.
On Thursday and the final day of the competitions at Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai, Saman Sepiddast, Erfan Moghaddam and Ali Fathi collected a gold medal each in the boy’s 800 meters freestyle (the 16-17 age category), 200-meter breaststroke (the 12-13 age group) as well as 100-meter backstroke (the 14-15 age bracket) respectively.
Junior Iranian swimmer Alireza Amin Zomorrodi also received two gold medals in the 100 meters freestyle and 100-meter backstroke (the 14-15 age group).
Aria Nasimishad finished runner-up in the boy’s 200-meter breaststroke (the 16-17 age category), and claimed the silver medal.
Additionally, Nehran Ghasemzadeh and Farjad Mahmoudi settled for bronze in the 200-meter breaststroke (12-13 and 14-15 age brackets).
Dubai International Aquatic Championships (DIAC) 2016 opened in the United Arab Emirates on March 29, and finished on April 7.
The event was organized by the UAE Swimming Federation with the support of Dubai Sports Council and Hamdan Sports Complex.
