Iran holds 12th Intl. Traffic, Transportation Conference

The 12th International Conference on Traffic and Transportation Engineering has been held in the Iranian capital of Tehran, Press TV has reported.
Many experts and officials from Iran and some other countries such as Australia, Japan, China, Luxemburg, Livonia, India, Thailand, United States, Pakistan, and Russia flocked to the event.

The participants are slated to discuss the most important problems standing in the way of urbanization in many developed and developing countries, traffic and its consequences during the two-day conference.
Public Transportation, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Transportation Planning, Traffic Safety and Risk, Transportation and Sustainable Development, Traffic Engineering and Transportation Economics are the main topics for discussion.
While many experts referred to Iran’s big achievements in the area of public transportation, they stressed that the country must continue in the right path.

Tehran’s deputy Mayor also explained about the quality of public transportation in metropolitan city during the conference.

A large number of plans are underway that are managed by Road and Urban Development Ministry and Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO), said Deputy Head of RMTO Hossein Motevalli.

The projects include developing the infrastructures of road, building 23 border terminals, completing road and freeway networks, equipping 55 cargo terminals and building welfare complexes on the roads, he added.

The conference Kicked off on February 19 and will come to an end on February 20, 2013.
