Tehran, March 21, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-Afircan Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Monday that the issue of Yemen should be resolved through political means.
He made the remarks in a telephone conversation with Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Yemen, Ismail Cheikh Ahmed on Monday.
Dialogue is the only way out of the current crisis in Yemen and all conflicting groups should persue the path, Amir Abdollahian added.
During the telephone conversation, the two sides examined various aspects of current developments in Yemen.
Cheikh Ahmed described the telephone contact constructive and invited all domestic and foreign sides to help resolve the country's crisis through political means.
Role of Iran in resolving the disputes in Yemen is very promising, he said.
He expressed the hope that after establishment of ceasefire, grounds for rendering humanitarian aid and resolving disputes through negotiations will bear fruit.
Iran's main policy in Yemen is cessation of war and resolve of disputes through dialogue, Amir Abdollahian stsressed.
