Iranian female ping pong players have gained a sweeping victory against Venezuela in the Perfect 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships in Malaysia.

On Wednesday evening, the Iranian women’s national table tennis team, comprised of Mahboubeh Omrani, Neda Shahsavari and Maryam Samet, cemented their superior status in the international sporting event in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur, and breezed past Venezuela 3-0 in their last group stage match.

Shahsavari recorded a good win (3-1) over her Venezuelan opponent in the first contest, before Omrani produced a similar result in the next.

Samet defeated another representative from Venezuela (3-0) in the final challenge and sealed Iran’s resounding win.

The achievement was precious as it helped the Iranians propel to the second round of the games and secure a place in the competitions among the top eight teams.
