29 Feb 2016 - 17:53

Tehran, Feb 28, IRNA – Swiss President Johann Schneider-Ammann in a speech at Tehran University on Sunday called his talks with Iranian officials 'constructive'.

He said Iran and Switzerland follow very 'similar philosophies and action plans' for development.

The Swiss president called education, research and innovation as three principles that should be on the agenda as prerequisites to any countries' progress.

At the cermony, the Swiss president was awarded the logo of University of Tehran.

Three Memorandums of Understandings were signed between Tehran University and Switzerland academic centers on the sidelines of president Schneider-Ammann's visit.

Schneider-Ammann arrived in Iranian capital, Tehran on Friday evening to confer with Iranian officials on expansion of bilateral cooperation.

He heads a high-ranking political, economic, and scientific delegation in his official visit to Tehran.

Promoting the Tehran-Bern ties in political, economic, trade, judicial, and cultural fields is among the objectives of the Swiss president’s Iran visit.

Representatives of 38 major Swiss companies are accompanying Schneider-Ammann.

The fact that tens of major Swiss industrialists, investors, and entrepreneurs are accompanying the Swiss president shows that Bern is keen to develop its relations with Tehran, particularly after the recent termination of nuclear-related anti-Iran sanctions.
