Tehran, Feb 18, IRNA – Vahdat Hall hosted Leipzig String Quartet members Matthias Moosdorf (cello), Ivo Bauer (viola) and Tilman Buning (violin), in a performance of compositions by Beethoven and Mozart, followed by Brahms after the intermission.
The group later performed a composition by Iranian maestro Loris Tjeknavorian, which was highly praised by the audience. Tjeknavorian also expressed his respect for the group amidst the audience’s loud applause.
The Leipzig String Quartet had previously performed in the Vakil Bathhouse in Shiraz and the Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran during their stay in Iran, Tehran Times reported.
In addition, the Indian musicians including maestro Shashank Subramanyam, a Grammy nominated exponent of the flute, and percussionist Parupalli Phalgun gave their performance in Vahdat Hall the same night.
Shashank’s performances feature an extraordinary range of musical expression - from the deepest meditations to youthful fun with astonishing virtuosity.
The Badakhshan Ensemble gave their performance at Rudaki Hall with their selection of Persian poetry mostly focusing on the Persian poet Molana Jalal al-Din Rumi (1207-1273).
Vocalist Aqnazar Alovatov and daf player Shodi Mabatqulov thrilled the audience with their rhythmic performance.
Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Ali Moradkhani and a number of German tourists were in the audience.
