17 Feb 2016 - 17:59

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh is in Iraq for a two-day visit aimed at boosting trade ties between Tehran and Baghdad.

Heading a delegation, Nematzadeh arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday morning.

In his meetings with high-ranking Iraqi officials, including the Arab country’s ministers of trade and industry, Nematzadeh will discuss ways to strengthen relations between the two neighbors.

The Iranian minister will also visit Iran’s 2nd exclusive trade fair in Baghdad, which hosts 115 Iranian companies working in different fields.

Back in September 2015, Iran’s Economy Minister Ali Tayyebnia said Tehran and Baghdad plan to increase their trade exchanges to $20 billion in the near future.

He said the current value of trade exchanges between the two neighboring countries amounts to $12 billion if transit and tourism are taken into account.
