17 Feb 2016 - 15:38

Tehran, February 17, The Iran Project – During separate remarks, Iran's top clerics stress the significance of upcoming election, reiterating that participation in both parliamentary and expert assembly elections is a religious, social and political obligation for all Iranians.

In his weekly teaching session on Wednesday, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirzai, Iran's senior cleric, noted that the selected candidates are due to take responsibilities for several years, saying that for this reason massive participation is a religious, social and political must in order to maintain the country's power.

Warning about the negative outcomes of people's non-participation, the senior cleric added that as the last demonstration of 22 Bahman's ceremony (Islamic Revolution Anniv. rally) the high turnout in the upcoming election would frustrate the Islamic country's foes.

During his teaching session on Wednesday, Grand Ayatollah Noori Hamedani also called the participation in the election a religious obligation, stating that the glory of Islamic and Iranian culture of Iran can be demonstrated only through taking part in the coming election.

Pointing to the major tests all people might take through their lives, the top cleric added that the attendance in public election is one of such tests which all the eligible people must take into account.

Also, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has warned against enemy plots to exercise influence in Iran’s upcoming elections on Wednesday.

Iran's Assembly of Experts and parliament elections are due to be held later this month on February 26.
