Iran keen on cooperation with other countries in science, technology

Tehran, Feb 8, IRNA - The Islamic Republic of Iran in light of major achievements in science and technology is ready to broaden all-out cooperation with other countries, Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari said on Monday.


He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
Period of economic sanctions has created a new situation for the Islamic Republic of Iran to lessen dependence on oil revenue and develop reliance on science, technology, renovation, and specialized workforce, Sattari said.

The countries willing to broaden ties and cooperation with Iran will find access to untouched markets, Sattari said citing dlrs 60 billion worth electronic commerce, information technology and telecommunications.

Eliminating dependency on oil revenue, has opened a new chapter in broadening economic relations with other countries, Sattari said.
Over 30 million young population, over five million of university students, the fifth global ranking in training of engineers prove Iran's eligibility to interlink with the developed countries.

Over 5,000 kilometers of sea borders have given Iran a good chance to develop marine industries and export them, Sattari said.
The Greek premier leading a high ranking politico-economic delegation arrived in Iran to study grounds for expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Lifting economic sanctions has created suitable opportunities for other countries to make use of Iran potentials and capabilities in many sectors, the Greek premier said.

He expressed the hope that the Islamic Republic of Iran will be able to broaden cooperation with the world countries in a way to attain its real status.
Preparing grounds for expansion of scientific cooperation between the two sides scientists and researchers are of prime importance, the Greek premier said.
Broadening cooperation in the energy sector will be on agenda, he said.
