3 Feb 2016 - 14:52

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Planning for Tehran-Berlin long-term cooperation is necessary, said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani as welcoming boosting ties between Iran and Germany.

In a meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Rouhani called for taking use of post-JCPOA and post-sanction era to increase the level of cooperation between Iran and Germany.

“Chances for joint cooperation in different sectors, including mine, energy, railroad and tourism are available. Germany can have a more active participation in these fields,” he said.

Rouhani also said that Iran and Germany can work for settlement of regional and international problems, especially fighting terrorism and establishing peace and stability in the region.

Steinmeier, for his part, said a new chapter has opened in Iran-Germany ties after implementation and said his country is set to widen ties with Iran in political, economic and cultural fields.

He also said that German firms are interested in presence in Iran for investment and joint cooperation.
