TEHRAN (ISNA)- An Iranian Foreign Ministry official said that the country uses its power and influence for peaceful purposes.

“Today, Iran is one of the most secure, stable and powerful countries of the Middle East,” said Director General of Political and Security Department of Iranian Foreign Ministry Hamid Baeidi-Nejad.

“Iran uses its power and influence for peace and stability in the region not for aggression and destabilizing neighboring countries as certain countries do,” he added.

“Iran is playing a key role in the region,” he said, adding all Iraqi officials have acknowledged that the ISIL would have seized Iraq if Iran had not helped.

“I believe that Iran’s future will be brighter after the JCPOA and we will witness progress in different domains and removing all limitations.”
