Tehran, February 2, The Iran Project – The people of Shiraz who earlier had been pioneers of spreading charities through walls of kindness across Iran, this time have taken a cultural measure to promote public reading, as a spiritual need of the society, through donating books.
Few months after that a number of anonymous youth in Shiraz turned a wall into a donation center where citizens can discard the unwanted clothes and other stuff for the welfare of the poor, this time a book seller in the city has designed a place in his store where people can either donate or take the books with different subjects .
The salesperson who is not willing to reveal his name explained that this measure aims to provide the first hand books for free to those who may not be able to afford the reading costs, in order to promote the culture of reading in the country.
The founder of this charity move in Shiraz further stated that the poverty is not only limited to the material needs but also might be related to cultural needs.
Earlier, a number of anonymous people in Shiraz and Mashhad acted to donate clothes to the poor, a move which quickly spread across the majority of cities and villages in Iran. The Iranian’s altruistic acts also have drawn the international media attention, pushing them to praise Iranian’s humanism.
