Iran, Philippines agree to establish Joint Economic Commission

Rasht, Jan 31, IRNA – Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Minister Mahmud Vaezi said on Sunday that Iran-Philippines Joint Economic Commission will convene its 1st session in near future.


In his meeting with the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Laura del Rosario, Vaezi said that after activation of the joint commission bilateral cooperation in commercial, oil, shipping, banking, tourism and visa issuance fields will begin.

'Better understanding about the capabilities of the other side in scientific, technological and especially IT and ITC fields is a dire necessity,' he said referring to the existence of various fields for bilateral cooperation.

That is while the 6th Iran-Philippines Joint Consular Commission was convened in Tehran on January 30 and 31.
The Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary reiterated in the meeting that Iran is one of the six countries with which the Philippines has joint commissions at ministerial level.

She expressed hope that after the establishment of the economic and the infrastructure commissions their sessions will be convened as soon as possible.
