Iran, EU to start talks early Feb

TEHRAN (ISNA)- The first round of talks between Iran and EU would start at the level of deputy foreign ministers and European Union Political Director Helga Schmid in Tehran early February, said an Iranian deputy foreign minister.

The exact date of the negotiations is still unclear but it would be held at the level of deputy foreign ministers, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for American and European Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi said, adding the talks are going to be held every six months in Tehran and Brussels.

Iran and the EU plan to discuss different political, economic, regional and international issues, he said, adding, “Actually, we will have a detailed agenda for talks with the EU and I think that the negotiations will be helpful for both sides.

He further said that EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini would visit Iran next spring for second time.

The EU is aware of Iran’s potentials in energy sector and is interested in bilateral cooperation with Iran in energy field
