The Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) has banned its firms from re-exporting Turkish products to Russia, national media cited its deputy director as saying Saturday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia banned an array of Turkish agricultural products after a Turkish fighter shot down Russia’s Su-24 jet over Syria on November 24, 2015.
Movadvadi stressed that re-export is against Iran's general export policies and added that Iranian merchants should capitalize on the Islamic Republic’s friendly ties with Russia to export Iranian goods.
Chamber of Commerce Vice President Mohamadreza Ansari told Sputnik earlier this month Iran planned to increase the export of goods to Russia, food products in particular, amid favorable economic ties.
TPOI Deputy Director Mohammad Reza Movadvadi said the re-export ban was made on the decree of Iranian Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, according to Iran’s IRNA news service.
