US Vice President Joe Biden met Switzerland’s Federal President Johann Schneider-Ammann on Monday to discuss the latest nuclear deal with Iran and the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine, the White House said in a statement.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Biden expressed gratitude to Schneider-Ammann for the country’s role in the landmark Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), whose implementation day over the weekend terminated sanctions against Iran after it was verified to be in compliance with the terms of the agreement.
He noted Switzerland’s role in hosting the upcoming Syrian peace talks, the statement added.
The two leaders discussed the conflict in southeastern Ukraine and means of extending bilateral economic cooperation.
Biden is in Switzerland to take part in the 46th annual World Economic Forum in Davos.
