Tehran, Jan 2, IRNA – The 34th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) will hold commendation ceremonies for three Iranian actors, Reza Kianian, Roya Teymourian and Mehdi Fakhimzadeh.
According to the public relations office of the festival, Kianian is among the few Iranian actors who has performed a wide range of roles in various genres, so he will be honored in the upcoming festival, Financial Tribune reported.
Kianian, 64, is a graduate of theatre from the University of Tehran, and has acted in over 60 films, plays and TV series.
He began acting in local plays in 1965, when he was only 15. Later on, he took the stage in renditions of plays such as ‘Antigone’, ‘Petty Bourgeoisie’, ‘The Marriage of Mr. Mississippi’, ‘ A Man for All Seasons’ and many more.
Kianian has also acted in the popular TV series ‘The Final Shot’, ‘The English Bag’, ‘The Rebel Years’ and ‘Mokhtarnameh’.
He won two Crystal Simorgh awards at the FIFF, a Best Supporting Actor award for ‘The Glass Agency’ at the 16th festival and another Best Actor award for ‘A House Built on Water’ at the 20th edition.
‘The Maritime Silk Road’ (2012), ‘A Cube of Sugar’ (2010), ‘The Fish Fall in Love’ (2005), ‘A Little Kiss’ (2005), ‘ Look At the Sky Sometimes’ (2003) and ‘Kimia’ (1995) are among his most famous films.
Since 2012 Kianian also has conducted all four editions of the Tehran Auction.
Best Actress
Actress Teymourian, 57, will be honored in recognition of a lifetime of artistic activity.
Majored in acting and directing, she has performed in more than 40 radio shows, TV series, plays and movies.
Teymourian was awarded the golden prize for best main actress in ‘Women’s Prison’ (2002) at the 6th House of Cinema Celebration, and was nominated for her supporting role in ‘Rain Man’ (1999) at the 18th FIFF.
Some of her popular performances have been in the TV serials ‘Warm Breath’ (2015), ‘The Recalling’ (2013), and ‘Zero Degree Turn’ (2006) along with movies ‘The Earring’ (2007), ‘The Willow Tree’ (2005), ‘The Poisonous Mushroom’ (2002), Mehr News Agency reported.
As a jury member, she has cooperated with the House of Cinema Celebration, Short Film Festival, Fajr Theatre Festival and Students Theatre Festival several times.
Veteran actor and director Fakhimzadeh, 73, studied French Language and Literature at the University of Tehran. He has directed and played in over 50 feature films and TV series.
Two of his directorial works ‘Proposal’ (1989) and ‘Spouse’ (1994) were among the best-selling movies of the year in which they were screened.
He was awarded the Best Screenplay award for ‘In Haste’ at the 10th FIFF, and received special mentions for the screenplay of ‘Spouse’ and for acting in ‘The Comrade’, at the 12th FIFF.
Additionally, Fakhimzadeh has directed, written, and acted in two grand Islamic history TV series, ‘The Loneliest Commander’, on the life of Imam Hassan (AS), the second Shia Imam, and ‘The Land of Love’, on the life of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shia Imam.
The 34th FIFF is slated for February 1-11 in Tehran.
