Over 200 Iranian lawmakers have strongly condemned Israel’s killing of Samir Qantar, a senior member of the Lebanese resistance movement of Hezbollah, in Syria, calling for avenging his blood.
In a Monday statement, 212 members of Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) expressed their condolences to Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah over the death of Qantar.
The lawmakers also called for avenging the top Hezbollah member’s blood.
According to local media reports, Qantar was killed during an Israeli raid which targeted his home near the Syrian capital, Damascus, early on Sunday. The airstrike also killed 10 Syrian nationals and injured a number of other civilians.

Qantar was released from an Israeli prison during a prisoner swap between Hezbollah and Israel in 2008, after serving 29 years in an Israeli jail.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari on Sunday also condemned Israel’s killing of the senior Hezbollah member in Syria as “the most dangerous type of state terrorism” and said such measures on the part of the Israeli regime had turned into a trend.
He also said the bloodshed was a clear example of the violation of a UN member’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
