TEHRAN, Dec. 08 (Shana) – Italian companies have indicated interest to return to Iran's North Pars gas field once the sanctions against the country are lifted, a senior Iranian gas official said.
Managing-Director of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) Mehdi Yousefi had a meeting with executives of a number of Italian energy companies Tehran during which the Italian representatives expressed willingness to join Iran to construct the field's infrastructures.
"Iran enjoys the world's biggest oil and gas reserves and only the South Pars gas field contains 6.8% of the world's proven gas reserves," he said during the meeting.

He underlined the region's proximity to high seas and ease of access to global markets as the field's advantages which make it an outstanding investment option.
"The nuclear deal has provided for a bright future for the presence of leading international companies in PSEEZ," he added.

In October, Italy’s oil giant Eni announced on Monday that it is ready to return to Iran’s oil industry once the sanctions against the country are lifted.
Eni’s Chief Upstream Officer Antonio Vella told an energy forum in Tehran that the company plans to use the latest technologies in Iran’s oil projects, stressing that this is crucial in decreasing the project costs.

Vella added that Eni was involved in the development of Iran’s South Pars gas field and was also involved in several petrochemical projects in the country before sanctions forced it to leave.
He emphasized that Eni always used the modern technology in all the projects that it carried out in Iran.
