Iran sets highest record of liver transplantation in world

Tehran, November 25, The Iran Project- An Iranian medical official says Namazi hospital in Shiraz has the highest record of liver transplantation in whole world with over 500 liver transplant procedures performed annually.

Mohammad Hadi Imaniyeh, President of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, made the speech on Wednesday in the 15th Iranian Congress of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Shiraz, noting the center as the founder of academic research in the area of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

He highlighted the efforts made by the center's research team to achieve the place.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he added that Namzai hospital in Shiraz has also high position in the areas of pancreas and kidney transplantation.

"Digestive and liver diseases and healthy life style relevant training are the health ministry's crucial concerns," he further explained.

The 15th Iranian Congress of Gastroenterology and Hepatology are currently being held in Shiraz from 25 to 27 November.

Earlier, Seyyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi Iran’s Health Minister had announced that Iran ranks first in organ transplantation in the region. He also had added that Iran has achieved many advances in the area of heart, pancreas, and intestine and kidney transplantation.
