TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (Shana) – Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said Iran welcomes the Netherland’s resumption of relations in the field of energy with the Islamic Republic in the post-sanctions era.
“The major company Shell used to have an active presence in Iran. We hope that after removal of sanctions, the Dutch firm will be active in Iran’s oil industry once again,” he told Shana prior to the meeting with the visiting Minister of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands Henk Kamp here on Tuesday.
“In addition to upstream projects,” the minister added, “both countries can cooperate in oil and gas storage, launching oil and gas refineries and petrochemical complexes as well as in the maintenance of ports.”
Zangeneh also expressed hope that Dutch companies will invest in Iran’s petrochemical industry which is ready to attract finance to the tune of 50 billion dollars.
Kamp is here to take part in the summit meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) which was held on Monday.
Referring to valuable experiences of Dutch companies in the gas industry, Kamp said the country was ready to transfer its achievements to other member states.
The Netherlands, he added, plans to expand its cooperation with others, especially with Iran, in the gas industry.
