Tehran, Berlin to form joint environment committee

TEHRAN, Nov. 10 (MNA) – An official of Iran’s DOE told the media about forming a joint committee with Germans as a result of talks with his German counterpart.

‘To coordinate joint efforts of Iran and Germany on environmental issues, a joint committee will be formed soon,’ Saeed Motesadi, Deputy Head of Iran's Department of the Environment (DOE), told the media after meeting his German counterpart Gunter Adler on Sunday in Tehran.

During the meeting the two officials discussed the ways to cooperate in dealing with environmental issues.

Motesadi affirmed that both countries are willing to expand ties in areas of saving energy, tackling air pollution, waste management, and enhancing lab equipment monitoring environment.

The Iranian official hailed the good background of Iran-Germany environmental cooperation and pointed GIZ as one of active German companies in Iran which is major partner in projects to adjust with 1987 Montreal Protocol on Substancess.

Motesadi highlighted that ‘the comprehensive plan of waste management,’ and ‘upgrading systems and laboratory equipment’ are the priorities of the joint committee.

German Deputy Minister of Environment and Nuclear Safety Gunter Adler met with Iran’s Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian on Sunday and discussed ways to develop cooperation on environment macro planning.
