Mahmoud Dowlatabadi, a seasoned Iranian writer, has signed a petition addressed to the UN secretary general, officially joining a campaign launched in the aftermath of the Mina tragedy.
The veteran writer said, “It takes responsible people to take care of important issues. The failure of the Saudi government in managing the Hajj in Mina has raised tough questions. I hope, those responsible can offer a clear response on how this incident took place.”
Dowlatabadi is not the only famous figure to appeal to the public to join the protest campaign. Earlier, a number of actors, including Parviz Parastoui, Reza Kianian, Rambod Javan, Mohammad Bohrani as well as Ahmad Reza Darvish [a director] and Adel Ferdowsipour [a TV sports show host] had called on people to join the campaign.
