Economic sanctions hinder achieving peace

29 Oct 2015 - 10:52

New York, Oct 29, IRNA – Iran’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gholam-Hossein Dehqani, said that imposing economic sanctions as a means of pressure would hinder achievement of peace, security and development.

At the Wednesday meeting of the UN General Assembly, Dehqani stressed that such sanctions are blatant violation of the international law and contradict the spirit of the Charter of the United Nations.

'Such actions violate the rights of countries to achieve peace, development and the principles of peaceful coexistence between the countries,' he added.

The diplomat reiterated that these measures are considered as a permanent threat against the stability of countries and would undermine the right of people to freedom of trade regulations and the multilateral trading system.
