Iran backs anti-Israel countries: Rouhani

19 Oct 2015 - 11:11

TEHRAN, Oct. 19 (MNA) – President Rouhanu asserted countries at the forefront of the fight against the Zionists are supported by Iran.

At a meeting with Lebanon’s Foreing Minister Gebran Bassil, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani deemed Lebanon as a cause of regional stability being at the forefront of the resistance against Zionist invasion; “Lebanese people, with different ethnicities and religions have managed to maintain their alliance despite many conspiracies,” he noted.

Rouhani stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for solidarity, unity and territorial integrity of Lebanon and dubbed it as a model for the coexistence of people and religions.

Noting that the Zionist movement on the one hand and the presence of terrorism on the other hand has created problems in the region, the President said regional countries have to deal with these issues more than the past and we hope to observe increased security, stability and development in Lebanon."

“Today, the existing gap between the countries in the region has negatively affected the process of resolving the current problems; however, in practice, we must stand against the problems and give clear messages to enemies,” asserted Rouhani.

Rouhani further underlined that the Zionists need to come to the understanding that they cannot reach their aim by intrusion and the lesson that interference is useless should be taken by all countries.

The President deemed terrorism as a serious threat to the region; “the issue of terrorism can be eliminated only if all the governments and countries in the region be determined to fight terrorism with unity."

Criticizing killing and displacement of innocent people in some regional countries, Rouhani said our logic is to support the oppressed and to prevent the killing of human beings.

He further called for more collaboration between Iranian and Lebanese authorities to resolve regional issues and expressed hope for more stability and development in Lebanon.

The Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, for his part, praised Iran’s permanent support of Lebanon in fighting the Israeli regime and terrorism; “we believe Iran’s nuclear deal will bring advantages to the region because it will allow isolation to be replaced by the logic of dialogue,” he stated.

Lebanon’s FM also said Iran has entered a new stage in the international arena and can bring the worlds to better realize the great risk of terrorism and added, “in the course of confronting terrorsim, many countries have good capacities and capabilities which need to be exploited.”

He further deemed stability and sovereignty as the key to victory over the Zionist regime and said Israel cannot win any battle by the logic of force.

Bassil stressed that the Zionists and terrorists share common interests, noting that "Iran has set the ground to combat terrorism; we need to work together in this path."

“The Islamic Republic of Iran can be the messenger of democracy in the region due to its positions,” concluded the Lebanese foreign minister.
