Tehran, Oct 17, IRNA - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on Saturday exchanged views on the crises in Syria and Yemen.

During their conversation on the phone, the Iranian diplomat said Russia's recent measures against terrorism in Syria have been effective and constructive, Foreign Ministry's Public Diplomacy Directorate General announced.

They stressed adopting political solution for regional crises as well as effective acts of the global community to fight extremist groups within the framework of international rules and norms and the UN Charter.

Amir-Abdollahian and Bogdanov also expressed their concern on the crisis in Yemen, continued Saudi-led military aggression, and the escalating humanitarian plight of the impoverished Arab nation.

They called for termination of military acts against people of Yemen, bolstering of the political process and inter-Yemeni dialog as the only way out of the crisis in the war-hit country.

The Iranian and Russian deputy foreign ministers also supported efforts of the UN special envoy for Yemen to hold the meeting of Yemeni groups in the shortest possible time.

Amir-Abdollahian invited Bogdanov, who is also Russian president special envoy for Middle East, to visit Iran for continued negotiations in the near future.
