Tehran, October 15, The Iran Project – Iran's opposition to the presence of the apostate writer Salman Rushdi at the Frankfurt Book Fair has generated wide reactions in Germany and the world, as well.
Following Salman Rushdie's appearance as a guest speaker at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, Iran issued a statement on last Wednesday and officially pulled out from the event. However, the Iran's closed exhibition stand has drawn the visitors', journalists and photojournalists' attention in the fair, letting them know the Iran's objection to this anti-cultural invitation within the rules and regulations of the fair.
To provide the English version of the Mohammad (PBUH) novel to the fair's visitors, to distribute leaflets about Quran and to hang banners are among the notable measures that Iran's stand has taken to voice objection to the fair organizer's decision.
Earlier, Iran officials called Salman Rushdie’s invitation to Frankfurt Book Fair as anti-Islamic and inflammatory and a move in obvious contradiction to the Book Fair's slogan ‘freedom of speech’.
