New York, Oct 1, IRNA -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in separate meeting with his Mexican, Austria, Swiss and South Korean foreign ministers discussed different global issues, including the refugee crisis and the Syrian crisis.
During the meeting with his Mexican Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu, Zarif discussed political and economic ties between the two countries.
He touched ion the trade and economic opportunities in the post-sanctions era for his Mexican counterpart and invited her to seize the opportunity in pace with other countries, and said, such measure in the first place needs the government's special support in banking and financial sectors.
Massieu, for her part, congratulated Iran on its political achievement, especially the nuclear agreement, and reiterated on the need for the further expansion of political and economic relations between the two countries.
Zarif also met with Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz in New York on Wednesday.
During the meeting with his Austrian counterpart, Zarif discussed the refugees and Syrian crises.
The Iranian foreign minister strongly criticized the silence and indifference of the European countries towards Saudi aggression in Yemen, and said, 'The irrational behavior of Saudi Arabia in the Syrian and Yemeni crises not only did not face fair reaction of the European countries and the US, the Saudi Arabia also enjoys the support of these countries and the UN Security Council resolution instead of condemning the Arab country while its is continuing its attacks on Yemen.
Zarif also emphasized the political solution to the Syrian crisis away from any prejudgment that the decision should be taken and defined by the people of that country.
During the meeting with Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter, Zarif voiced Iran's readiness for the expansion of bilateral ties in all areas of mutual interest.
The Iranian foreign minister, meantime, lauded the Switzerland's role in different areas, including humanitarian areas.
Burkhalter, for his part, pointed to the removal of anti-Iran sanctions in August, and emphasized the mutual confidence between the two countries.
The Swiss foreign minister called for starting bilateral talks between Iran and Switzerland in different political and economic areas.
Zarif and his South Korean counterpart Yun Byung-se discussed different areas of political relations.
The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the latest developments of the nuclear agreement, and called on the South Korean side to seize the opportunity and make use the economic capacities of Iran for the promotion of trade with the Central Asia and Middle East with a population of over 300 million.
The South Korean foreign minister, for his part, congratulate Zarif on the nuclear agreement reached between Iran and the world powers while expressing the hope that his country could uses the experiences emanating from the agreement in line with the promotion of peace in East Asia and the Korean peninsula.
