Officials dismiss report claiming that the boat carried pistols and assualt rifles for Bahrain
Manama: Qatar authorities have denied media reports that they had intercepted an Iranian boat carrying weapons destined for Bahrain, the Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science in Manama has said.
The Qatari denial was made during contacts between security officials in both countries.
Media in the region published the allegation based on a report posted by a news site that claimed that the ship was carrying 50 9mm pistols, three Kalashnikovs rifles and several hand grenades and that its captain told the Qatari authorities that he was trading in weapons.
The report did not mention the name of the beneficiary in Bahrain.
