Islamabad, Aug 16, IRNA -- Chairman of Pakistani Senate strongly believes that nuclear deal between Iran and P5+1 not only will help strengthen Iran-Pakistan economic and trade ties, but will have huge regional and global positive outcomes.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA on Sunday, Mian Raza Rabbani said, 'As one of its positive impacts, the deal has given an immediate advantage to Pakistan to go ahead with the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.'
Referring to his recent meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in Islamabad, he said the meeting was held in a very friendly, cordial and pleasant atmosphere and a general discussion on the overall political situation in the region and bilateral ties between Iran and Pakistan was on the agenda during the meeting.
The meeting was also a good opportunity to us to discuss building the concept of parliamentary democracy and strengthening parliamentary ties between two brotherly nations, Rabbani said.
“On Thursday meeting with FM Zarif, actually I took the second opportunity of congratulating the foreign minister on having successfully negotiated the final agreement because when he was negotiating the initial agreement with P5+1 group earlier this year, I had an opportunity of meeting him here and congratulated him at that time and we were both very hopeful that he would be able to meet the July deadline and by the grace of God we are very happy that agreement has come about,” said Mian Raza Rabbani.
“Iran nuclear deal is an agreement which not only has a global impact but it has an impact in particular for the region and it has a major impact on Iran and Pakistan ties because after the agreement, the sanctions are about to be lifted and that would give the immediate advantage to Pakistan to go ahead with Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.
“There are so many other economic initiatives that can be developed between Pakistan and Iran like petrol, oil and so many others and that would develop in future,” he said.
