11 Jul 2015 - 17:22

Tehran, July 11, The Iran Project – Iran’s family protection law requires those who ask for uncontested divorce to go to the counselors, a judicial official announced on Saturday.

According to the regulations of the Family Protection Law that was announced on February 27, it was decided not to register an uncontested divorce without going to a family counseling center, Parnian Ghavam said.

Ghavam went on to say that in an effort to reduce the divorce rate, especially uncontested divorce, real counselors will be established in the family courts next year, and the judge cannot issue the divorce decree without the counselor’s order.

She also stated that according to the new Family Protection Law, there will be female judge advisors in the courts to help women talk more freely about their problems.
