Tehran, July 1, IRNA – The managing director of National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) said Wednesday that as lifting of sanctions will open up new markets for NITC, the company is considering different scenarios for returning to European markets, while it has identified other new markets.
Speaking to IRNA, Ali-Akbar Safaei expressed hope that the ongoing nuclear talks between Tehran and the six world powers would lead to the removal of all anti-Iran sanctions, including those imposed on Iranian shipping companies.
Underlining the role of domestic shipping companies during the sanctions, Safaei said it is expected that the domestic shipping companies would not be forgotten after the return of foreign companies.
He said that despite the Western sanctions, NITC could proceed with its development plans.
With a capacity of 15.5 million tons, the NITC is now in good conditions and is prepared to return to European markets, Safaei said.
