Tourism events and festivals are to be held in all provinces of Iran as part of the country’s summer tourism program. Hotels and travel agencies will promote the events, in cooperation with provincial departments of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.
The summer events are part of the country’s comprehensive plan to develop tourism and improve services offered by travel agencies, according to the secretary of Travel Service Coordination Headquarters, Ebrahim Larijani, Mehr News Agency reported.
He said the events need to focus on introducing each province’s cultural and historical attractions as well as its tourism potential. The events can be themed around any field such as sport, music, traditional clothing and local arts and crafts.
Each province is expected to hold at least one festival, while certain provinces might organize three or four events.
Larijani said next week a calendar of summer events will be distributed among travel agencies and tour operators.
He said the events will also be advertised in the media and publications to make sure most people will at least become aware of Iran’s summer events.
“People should know what options they have while traveling. For instance, those traveling to Bonab in East Azarbaijan Province might be interested to know about the kebab festival in August.”
