Iran and Italy on Sunday signed an MOU on a biennial joint environmental action plan in Tehran with Iran’s Environment chief Masoumeh Ebtekar and her Italian counterpart in attendance.
The two sides vowed to take measures – at a national level – to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in line with the objectives and principles of the Kyoto Protocol. On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Ebtekar said that illegal and unjust sanctions have taken a heavy toll on Iran’s environment, adding that Iran has failed over the past years to access the technologies needed for reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution because of sanctions.
