New York, April 25, IRNA – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is hopeful that nuclear negotiations between Iran and six world powers will reach a final agreement, said his spokesman on Friday.
United Nations Spokesman Stephane Dujarric, in his daily briefing, said UN has no role in the talks until the two sides reach a final agreement, although the negotiating countries brief the UN and its secretary general on the discussions.
He did not rule out that negotiating parties might have a session in UN Headquarters in New York.
Negotiators from Iran and P5+1 (US, Russia, Britain, France, China, Germany) are currently meeting in Vienna to draft the text of final agreement on the nuclear issue.
The discussions are to be followed next week in New York with the participation of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, US Secretary of State John Kerry, and UN Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.
