TEHRAN (ISNA)- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and President's Special Envoy to the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov said his country supports Iran’s four-point plan to end hostilities in Yemen.
“Fortunately, Iran and Russia have similar views on Yemen and they both stress sending human aid to Yemenis and improve diplomatic regional and international consultations to end the attacks (on Yemen),” Bogdanov said in a phone call with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Countries Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
He also said that his country always supports participation of other countries to end crisis in Yemen. “It will also use its capacity to advance Iran’s plan (on Yemen) in the UN. Russia believes that the UN must play a more active role to restore peace and stability to Yemen.”
Amir-Abdollahian, for his part, stressed finding a political solution to cease crisis in Yemen and said, “Iran expects Russia to continue diplomatic efforts and consultations with officials of other countries to help end Saudi military attacks and naval blockade of Yemen.”
They also highlighted sending food and medicine to Yemen.
