Islamabad, April 17, IRNA – The 8th Joint Security Meeting of Iran and Pakistan ended here on Friday evening in the presence of Iranian deputy Interior minister Hossein Zolfaqari and top Pak officials after signing a 21-article cooperation document.
Special emphasis was made in the two-day joint session on the dire need for strengthening bilateral cooperation in campaign against terrorism, especially along the two countries' border region.
In addition to the need to control, contain, and uproot terrorism jointly, the other major topics of discussion were on campaign against narcotic drugs trafficking, illegal cross border traffic, and further activation of border markets, to each of which separate articles were allocated in the cooperation document.
It was also agreed that not only the top and lower brass border guards of the two countries who will have monthly and once every three month meetings respectively, the commanders of the two countries' border guards in neighboring Baluchestan provinces of the two countries, too, will meet once every six months to precisely survey the issues of mutual interest and exchange information.
Information exchange to contribute to the campaign against terrorism in shortest possible time was among the topmost issues agreed in the bilateral security meeting.
