Tehran, April 12, IRNA - Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif departed Tehran for Astana on a two-day official visit to Kazakhstan to hold key talks on mutual relations and the latest developments in the region.
The Iranian minister pays a visit to Astana at the invitation of his Kazakh counterpart Yerlan Idrisov.
The visit will take place within the framework of close consultations between the two countries and with the purpose of following up agreements reached during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s trip to Astana last September.
In September 2014, President Rouhani, leading an economic and diplomatic delegation, made a five-day tour of the Central Asian states of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
During the trip, Iran signed agreements with the two states on expansion of ties in various fields.
Zarif and Idrisov are also set to exchange views about the bilateral cooperation and regional and international developments.
