TEHRAN April 06(Shana)--Iran’s petroleum minister has told a group of lawmakers that the country’s oil exports would double to 2 mbl/d once sanctions have been lifted.
“After the lifting of sanctions, Iran’s oil exports would increase from around 1mb/d to more than 2 mb/d,” Jalil Jaafari, secretary of the Majlis Energy Committee, quoted Bijan Namdar Zangeneh as having told the committee members.
“The sale of condensate recovered from South Pars [gas field] will also increase with an improvement in political conditions,” the minister has said.
According to Jaafari, Ministry of Petroleum plans to focus on oil production from Yadavaran, North Azadegan, South Azadegan, North Yaran and South Yaran oil fields. Iran shares all these fields with Iraq.
He said that Iran is also to launch Persian Gulf Star Refinery to increase the country’s gas production by 12 million liters a day.
Iran currently imports 5 ml/d of gasoline to meet its growing demand. The startup of Persian Gulf Star Refinery would let Iran even export 3 to 4 ml/d of gasoline.
