Iran, Oman discuss bilateral ties, regional developments

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Countries Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi discussed bilateral cooperation as well as latest regional developments.

During the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian referred to Yemeni developments, and said, “Continuous consultation among political sides in the country will help settle the problems.”

He said Yemen belongs to all countries, and Yemeni-Yemeni talks in a calm atmosphere with participation of all parties, groups and social-political streams is the practical solution to complex problems in Yemen.”

The Iranian diplomat stressed fighting extremism and terrorism and keeping unity in the region, and lauded Ansarullah’s fight against al-Qaeda and the ISIL in Yemen.

Yusuf bin Alawi, for his part, said, “Oman has quite stable and transparent relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and believes that boosting bilateral ties between Iran and Oman is in favor of the two countries, and the entire region.”

He further called for participation of Yemeni political groups and parties in national dialogues, and said any extremist behavior would damage the interests of all sides.

Amir-Abdollahian left for Oman on Sunday night.
